Melbourne Regatta

Blessing of the Fleet Community Day Melbourne Day 30th August 2014

The Melbourne Regatta is the Oldest in Australia, being held for the first time on the Yarra in 1838

Purpose of The Melbourne Regatta

To celebrate the Birthday of Melbourne, "Melbourne Day", raise awareness of our rich Maritime Heritage and to the great asset that is our waterfront here in Docklands.

The event will create a spectacular sight with flotillas of private and commercial vessels filling Victoria Harbour. It will enable people who live, work and play in Docklands a great opportunity to experience Docklands from the water. They will enjoy a brand new perspective of Docklands with views of Melbourne's skyline seen from a whole new angle - the water. Vessels will be available for charter by private groups, or free to the general public.

Supporters of the Regatta

The event is supported by City of Melbourne, Docklands Chamber of Commerce, Yarra River Business Association, Melbourne Ports and Waterways. There will also be a vigorous radio, TV, printed and social media campaign. We hope that Docklands Corporates will get behind this event to inject a sense of place and ownership of our backyard that we call Docklands.

How to help?

The Melbourne Regatta represents a great opportunity for you to get involved in the Docklands community, by sponsoring your own boat for the Regatta. You can demonstrate your support by selecting and chartering a commercial vessel, either for your staff, guests and clients, or by chartering a vessel that will be designated as offering cruises free to the general public on the day.

This is a great way for you to recognise your staff, their families and reward selected clients. In recognition of your support, vessels will be adorned with your corporate signage, flags and balloons , as well as your logo on all promotional material that is used in promotion of the Regatta.
